oxidation and aging
"stop! you must not strike an elder!"
"actually, you are three years younger than me."
"what are you, the friggin' highlander?"
we hear hear stories about persons living at very high altitudes living for unusually long times. and laboratory tests show mice on low calorie
diets live 30% longer than normal. since one oxygen in 50 escapes from the hemoglobin before it gets to the glucose, these nacent oxygen atoms form
hydroxyl radicals which are believed to cause aging. if you consume less food then presumably you would need less oxygen to metabolize it. also anti
aging drugs such as bromocrypine are powerful anti oxidants.
i was at 15,000 feet and it felt like a mistake. it definatly changed my planes to go to nepal, at least until the riots stop.
however, it might be that if you were to live at these extremely high altitudes, you might live longer because there was less oxygen to form
free radicals?

Yes, we all succumb eventually to oxygen's long-term toxicity. . .

Its nice to think so simply about the human body but its a tad more complicated. i think research will certainly show, as it already has begun to that
antioxidants do very little antioxidising in the body. You just have to look at the half life of the oxygen radical /cf the concentration of these
antioxidants in your bodily fluids and membranes to establish a collision between the two is fairly unlikely before the radical hits something else.
However that sober sensibility is inherent less marketable than something like anti(insert negative phrase of choice here). Feel free however to load
on up it certainly is unlikely to do any great harm and if it empowers you thats excellent, i feel great today!
What we need is some antiunsensibility drugs, or some antistupid compounds, they should dilute them and spray them over the population like DDT.
If this sounds harsh its not meant to be, i hope i did not offfend.
