Brainstorm - For REAL...
this reminds me of that old Christopher Walken movie..
I am so glad I won't be alive when this tech is perfected and governments get a hold of it..

Ah but see, it can only read what patterns it is programmed to recognize. I highly doubt it will ever read dreams, which are much more complex (and,
I suppose, may not even be the same fundamental pattern as concious thoughts, therefore impossible to decode based on concious patterns).
From the horse's mouth,

Right now, TED seems to be downloading faster than youTube. And the sound quality is better.

Interesting I'm glad stuff like this is happening actually.
weirdly, I happen to have seen both of these articles today just by my typical surfing about.

Being able to record dreams for viewing would open (whew) up all kinds of possibilities.
Imagine what psychiatry and the entertainment industry could do with that kind of stuff?
Mind boggling. . .

I'm thinking of Kekule dreaming of snakes to lead him to the structure of benzene.
Who knows how common such dreams may be.
And I often find myself forgetting seemingly interesting dreams just as I try to remember them.
Being able to view them later would be a absolute boon.

I particularly like the part when the guy in the audience asks Venter - "Don't you think you are playing God??" -- he raises an eyebrow and says
"PLAYING??"
