Electroysis of maganese sulfate.

largenumbergoeshere - 18-10-2018 at 03:13

Hello all,

I was just wondering anyone has inforcation on the electrolysis of maganese sulfate. I've been looking around for quite a while and the only product I've seen mentioned is maganese dioxide. I'm guessing the other products could be dissolved SO2 or dilute sulfuric acid.

Does anyone know?

Just look at the ions present in solution is probably enough to work out the possible products.
Cations: Mn2+, H+
Reduction products: Mn, H2
Ox products: MnO2, (MnO4-?)
Anions: SO4 2-, OH-
Ox: O2, SO5 2-, S2O8 2-, (H2O2?)
Red: (SO3 2-?, S2O6 2-?)
(Brackets=unlikely products)
