crystallization of acetone-water

I left a plastic container of roughly 20% acetone outside a few days ago. I was just playing around, seeing if i could do a fractional crystallization to recover some acetone. I was using the water to catch acetone vapor. I had noticed that the acetone slowly forms a richer layer on the top, being lighter. The picture shows what I found when i finally remembered to bring it back inside. the level of liquid started out 3 or 4 centimeters below the top of the container. You can't see it very well in the picture but it formed almost "pig tail" shaped projections, very smooth, not jagged at all. It has been cold out, -30C. I was surprised it even fully froze.

Any thoughts on this?
