Looks like the 15 year old birthday boy thread got canned!

So I'll repost this interesting item in a separate thread. It concerns the results for the OECD PISA science test for 15 year olds, and makes depressing reading, especially if you are from the USA or UK!

I don't so much feel bad for the US as I do other countries considering the massive brain drain we have been orchestrating internationally.

I guess thats why my relatives in the US homeschool.

From what I remember of High school, I am suprised Canada scored so well.:o


Also, Estonia being so high surprised me.

Look at how well New Zealand did (between 2nd and 9th), and better than Australia.

Yay! Finland is number one :). Our scientific education sure is quite good. It's just a shame that not all teachers tend to be very excited about physics and chemistry here in Finland. Nevertherless everyone learns the basic concepts of science and scientific way of thinking.

You can also quite freely continue studying. At the moment I'm doing courses of inorganic and organic chemistry in university of helsinki side-by-side with my studies in upper secondary school.
