A paper says H2PtCl6 will decompose if heated, but no details.
I wonder at what temperature H2PtCl6 will decompose? and what is the decomposed product? I guess Pt, HCl, Cl2?

Brauer (see our library) gives the preparation of PtCl4 from H2PtCl6, stating "the temperature must not be allowed to rise above 360°C". Since it
must be dried in a stream of hot Cl2 gas, it's reasonable to assume it will decompose beyond 300°C or so into a mixture of platinum oxides,
chlorides, and perhaps some metal as well.

It usually decomposes into a lower chloride. It will not decompose into its oxide Tim, not with Pt. It will actually go to metal first. I have a post
