postmordem blood samples

There are many scary things that happen this time of year…

New laws that want to arrest dead people for having high levels of GHB in post mortem blood for starters.

Also there have been reoccurring posts here regarding oxidizing tetrahydrofuran which was presented as dangerous. So.

I propose investigating the work of Elliot

“In terms of the effect of sodium citrate, significantly high levels of GHB have been frequently observed in postmortem blood preserved with sodium citrate. Elliot reported GHB concentrations up to 197 ug/ml in postmortem blood samples preserved with sodium citrate.”

Zany stuff…. A bacterial fermentation of citrate sounds intriguing

Yes I was joking abit about arresting dead people, but presenting this paper seems fitting for this time of year.
