I'm an undergraduate, but I have a job in a research lab at my university. I run organic syntheses, have access to the university's NMR, and get paid
well to do something that I enjoy. It's a pretty great job. If it wasn't for my experience with amateur chemistry, I probably wouldn't have gotten it
(or if I did, I may have been consigned to washing glassware and watching the "pros"). Instead I'm helping teach the grad students how to run columns.
This summer it's been especially nice, because without class to worry about, I've been able to work full time and I've really been enjoying it. Might
not even take Memorial Day off! |
