Hello folks
Yes Its been ages since I was here but more on that later& elsewhere.
I've scoured the site here and elsewhere to find more information on using a Snyder column for something other than in a Kuderna-Danish concentration
apparatus and come up with little. Can these columns actually be used in a fractional distillation and more importantly do these kinds of columns make
for more theoretical plates without becoming a back pressure/ flooding nightmare?
I need your help, and am thankful for any and all advise and comments.

I have always been a fan of Snyder columns, they are beatutiful pieces of art that do a reasonable job of separation and the sound they make when they
first come up to temperature is magical. Yes, they can be used for fractional distillation, remember to insulate them. They can flood but I have not
had what I would see as unusual issue with them. In terms of theoretical plates, should be equal to the number of bulbs, you can do better with a
packed column in all likelihood but it won't be as aesthetically pleasing.
Edit: I have been told but have never tested the advice to not use them under vacuum.
