fume hood help

RocksInHead - 9-11-2016 at 18:33

Hi everyone, recently I purchased a fume hood for around $750 off of ebay. However, there is a problem. Upon powering on the blower, the LCD display reads END TIME ALARM and there is a constant beeping sound. No matter what buttons I press the alarm won't turn off, and the alarm mute button does not work. The blower and light powers on fine. The filters will definatly need to be replaced, which wont be cheap. I have some idea when it was last inspected, which is either 2008 or 2002 (the inspectors handwriting is awful). I am hoping some of you will maybe have some experience with fume hoods might be able to help me (hopefully it is an easy fix!) or maybe you have had this problem before and resolved it.

Thanks in advance!

First, it is lucky that you are not an evangelist or that warning message could be rather worrying ... END TIME ALARM.

There could be a sensor on/in the filter pack
but I suspect that all is required is to reset a timer
that encourages you to buy new filters
You need a manual.

If you got no manual, try pressing and holding each button to see if it switches into a menu.

The manual doesn't say anything about the end time alarm message, and this unit does not contain sensors for detecting if anything bypasses the filters, but it does have a timer that will go off after a certain amount of blower usage. I too think it might be just having to reset the timer, and I will try what aga said when I get home. The filters will need to be replaced, and I could only find one website that sells the filters $500 for one (or two, as the manufactures cataloug no. is for a filter pair but the website doesn't specify).

sometimes, to get to service menus, you need to hold down a certain switch during power up sequence.

Have you tried turning it off and on again.
