Our process uses dry acetone as a solvant for a mixture of polymer, vanadium oxide and lithium salt.
The solvant is then extracted in an oven at around 150°C.
We are somehow producing unwanted diacetone alcohol, with strong odor, in our oven but we don't know with what mechanism. It seems we are not
producing it before the oven, well, so they say...
Of course, we could eliminate more diacetone by increasing temperature in the oven but then we will have other problems downstream.
The question is what causes the production of diactenone alcohol in our process. Other than condensation of acetone, what can produce it? I know
vanadium can be a sort of catalyst for it but what else will affect it? Temperature, pressure?

Are any of your reagents acidic or basic?
