I was planning on using ehrlich's reagent to visualize tlc spots. I've got silica gel on plastic plates. I read that you need to heat the plates after
spraying for 20 minutes at 50C. I'm wondering if the plastic plates will melt at that temp?

No, they won't, at least if you have the same kind of plastic plates that I do.
