cleaning a mcleod gauge

chemrox - 29-7-2015 at 14:10

I have a tilting mcleod gauge that I had to clean with HNO3. It's clean but now I have the HNO3 (plus Hg salts in solution) in the capillaries that are parts of the gauge. It's taking forever to get this stuff to where I can pour it out. Next I will have to rinse with acetone. I can remove that in the vac-oven. Has anyone ideas on speeding up the solution removal? I've been sonicating it with the capillaries slanted toward the large diameter plumbing.

Wick it out.

Capilliary versus more capilliary.
