Electro Chemistry for Organic Compounds

chochu3 - 24-11-2005 at 03:47

I was looking at science madness library looking for any ebooks which contain any info for organic electrochemistry. Looking through I found that Electro Chemistry for Organic Compounds by Walter Lob was on the list but curently not available. Is it because this book has not been found or the dejavu version going around is not of a very good scan. Well if ya'll need it I have I found this book a while ago and I'm willing to post it either to rapidshare or Madhatters FTP where ever whomever is interested would like.

solo - 24-11-2005 at 04:03

I would like to see a copy of the book , so if you can post the link to rapidshare it will be appreciated by me and I'm sure there are others interested on the said book.....but please put it in the new book thread started by Polverone.....thanks..........solo

The source material is not a very good scan, and that is why it has not been added to the library. I should clean up the library one of these days to remove the books I'm pretty sure won't be added due to scan quality.

IrC - 24-11-2005 at 13:27

I think you should just make a section titled "crappy scans". Some books are impossible to find and assuming it is not so bad that there is no way to read any of it, I for one would rather go through a book gleaning what information I could rather than to never see the book at all.

Polverone - 24-11-2005 at 17:56

The problem with adding a "crappy scans" section is that the files take up disk space. They actually take up more disk space than high-quality scans. And I'm already using something like 90% of our disk allocation, so I'd like to save what remains for better scans. But I have received some more donations in the last couple of months, so maybe I should just purchase another disk upgrade.

CherrieBaby - 25-11-2005 at 08:30

That is one of the really annoying things about such low resolution scans. They are big and they are crap. On eMule, I have been downloading most of "A Dictionary of Applied Chemistry" from the 1920's by Thorpe. It is djvu and each volume is from 40 to 60 Mb each. Yet when you get it, it's barely readable. Certainly some of the data presented at such a low scan rate (about 72dpi) has to be guessed at: is it a 6 or 5, a 6 or an 8, etc.

I have found about 12 books on electrochemistry.

chochu3 - 28-11-2005 at 09:12

Cherrie Baby could you list what 12 electro books you have? Please.

The_Davster - 28-11-2005 at 16:18

And possibly zip then and stick them up on rapidshare?

I personally have very few electrochem books and I really like them.

CherrieBaby - 1-12-2005 at 00:53

Much as I hate doing this (because it implies that I am a "pirate";). Two books have duplicate versions so I actually only have 11 books. The Lob book is such a bad scan it's hardly worth having. A really nice, smallish, book that I would like to have is "Electroorganic Synthesis", by S Torii, 1985.

The CRCs are produced by QuickSFV and are useful because (with the filesize) will uniquely identify a file.

I'm guessing that most of these books are on eMule or bitTorrent. Have a look here first before hassling me:

I believe someone already wrote a query that allows one to search rapidshare from google but it's in another thread

Can anybody upload mentioned books above? Google queried but at no result for any books listed above. No torrents found niether.

CherrieBaby - 13-12-2005 at 04:48

Since it was my post...

The best place to get the books is probably via eMule. You can run eMule overnight while sleeping or during the day while working.

While I could upload the books above, I also have another 6-8 GB of books and it's a bit tedious to upload them to rapidshare one by one only for them to expire 1 month later.

If, after 4 days, you can't find them on eMule then I WILL upload them.

Rapidshare new feature

FloridaAlchemist - 13-12-2005 at 20:10

I just received some new info from rapidshare that might be of interest. Here is part of the newsletter Dec 13th 2005

Improved feature! We have raised the max. upload file-limit from 50 MB to 100 MB!

==========

New feature! Create your own interactive RapidShare-folders with automatic availability-check for files!

More Infos: http://rapidshare.de/en/freefolders.html

==========

New feature! All files uploaded by premium-users will stay online FOREVER. This means there is no inactivity-timer anymore.

We will only delete your files if you delete your premium-account if course.

chochu3 - 14-12-2005 at 01:18

I'm pretty sure they could be leeched from eMule but my problem is my isp blocks the ports which eMule uses. It blocks all ports of known p2p software. But I'm not complaining I do get the internet free from a college acount. If you load them up to rapidshare I will transfer to an ftp for later retrieval so your kindness does not seem to be in vain.

I unhappy to see that Rapidshare have "upgraded" their services. Unfortunately it means that I can't get anything at all from them. They keep on telling me that my IP is "currently downloading a file" - despite the fact that I haven't downloaded anything from them for 4 days.

Are you using a proxy? This seems like a proxy problem. HTH.

Rapidshare working fine here

FloridaAlchemist - 15-12-2005 at 16:57

Try removing the rapidshare cookie then re-enter your user name and password.
My rapidshare account works fine.
Might be your IP..

The manufacture of chemicals by electrolysis, Hale, Constable (London) 1919, 92s, pdf

Advances In Electrochemical Science and Engineering Vol 7, ed. R C Alkire, Wiley 2001, 355s, pdf

Modern Aspects of Electrochemistry v.33, Conway et al, ed, Kluwer 1999, 661s, djvu

Electrochemistry of semiconductors and electronics, Conway et al, ed, 1992, 375s, pdf

These are the books I do not have. All the rest already have rapidshare links to them. If they are still needed by other memebers pm and tell me which to reupload.

CherrieBaby - 19-12-2005 at 18:54

One of the books is available here, the other 3 I uploaded to rapidshare.

I suppose my ISP must be using a proxy.

My IP is: X but rapidshare tells me that "You are already downloading a file" and it always points to the same IP address: Y which is close to my ISP's DHCP server. i.e. both IPs start with the same aa.bb.cc pattern and differ only in the least significant byte.
