Al/Hg Reduction & Dehalogenation.

I'm curious to whether I can reduce 3-bromo-4-methoxy-B-nitrostyrene to the corresponding phenethylamine without dehalogenation via the Al/Hg reduction method.

Off course you can. Al-Hg reduction does not dehalogenate haloaromatics.
Don't expect 3-Br-4-MeO-PEA to have any interesting activity though.
It's amphetamine homologue is active though, but it sucks.
