I am going to synthesis pyridinum salts from pure pyridine + ethanol and mix it with R-Br...
so I need to reflux them... I want to know how to use reflux here. I need the photo.. thank you very much.

I have to use reduced pressure then what to do?

There is no such thing as "pridinum" or "pyridinum." The word you're looking for is <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyridinium" target="_blank">pyridinium</a></em> <img src="../scipics/_ext.png" />.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflux" target="_blank">Reflux</a> <img src="../scipics/_wiki.png" />

Next time, please put a little effort into your post&mdash;you haven't made a positive first impression.

Your reactants are in the flask, the condenser is in the neck of the flask, water flows through the condenser to keep it cool. Heat the flask (the diagram shows a water bath, but the heat source will depend on the boiling point of the reactants/solvents. For an ethanol solution, a hot water bath will be fine). Boil the reaction mixture- the fumes will condense in the condenser and flow back into the flask (re-flux = "flow back"), so that you can keep boiling it (constant, high temperature) with minimal loss of solution.

Be VERY careful with pyridine. It's toxic, can cause sterility, and reeks like rotting fish.

sorry , thank you very much.

and now anyone could give me a detailed document which synthesis the ethyl ammonium nitrate. thanks
