Nitric acid 68% and 99% cost a lot less than a grand per metric ton, so goes for oleum, and the the rest materials, like hexamine or pentaerythritol
or toluene cost all around 1-4usd per kg. The manufacturing safety standards and the profits bear the highest increase on the cost of the explosive
materials, and the TNT being one of the cheapest may cost less than 2 bucks a kg from bulk production line.
I calculated that without the apparatus and labor costs I could make rdx at rate of about 30bucks a kg. That's from OTC stuff, including impure
commercial fertilizer as a source of nitric acid and ammonia, and methanol as a source of formaldehyde. If I'd get them from industrial supply, the
cost would go down at least 50%.
