Nitronium cation in energetic materials ?

DubaiAmateurRocketry - 2-10-2013 at 10:21

[NO2]+ Is am interesting because NO2 is usually [NO2]-, same for NO3

and in many enegetic materials that need a cation is oxygen negative, and most cation makes it worse, so can nitronium fix this problem ?

is nitronium too sensitive ?

any one tried ?

i have not personally dealt with it but nitronium perchlorate is used in rocket propellants.

here is N2O5 which is a very strong oxidiser. and seems pretty easy to make.

there are many cool compounds with this ion but these i think will be interesting for rocketry.
