Preferably PYBOP... But at this point I would settle for others. I only need 1-5 grams.
I tried contacting www.glschina.com and no response? Maybe because I didn't try to buy enough of it? Or maybe they don't actually sell to individuals?
I do own a company. However is has no legitimate reason to need any chemicals... and no special licenses. Would it still be possible to get an
account with one of the big-boy companies and have limited access?
Does anyone have a source that will sell me PYBOP as an individual?Dr.Bob - 3-4-2013 at 09:07
Can't help you with the chemical, but I have lots of peptide coupling glassware...
Also, there are many coupling agents out there, and some are not as hard to find as others, I know that in some cases trichorotriazine (Cyanuryl
chloride, not too hard to find) has been used to make the acid chloride which is then coupled, but depends on if racemization is an issue. There are
several people on here that have sold similar chemicals before, look through some older threads...
They seem very friendly on selling to individuals. They are a little pricey. I am considering ordering 5 grams PYBOP from them.
I imagine peptide reagents are relatively safe to order... No DEA restrictions or anything? Only thing is their website kinda gave me a
'tossed-together' vibe.
...What do people think...?
A) Scam
B) Legit
C) Phishing Scheme
E-Mailed them ~24 hours ago... No response yet.lastlokean - 4-4-2013 at 07:44
I have searched through threads quite thoroughly looking for a source on here or a link to a source. The few I found are completely unresponsive.
Need one of:
PYBOP (preferred)
BOP
HBTU
HATU
Anyone have a source that sells any of those in 1,5 or 25 gram packs? I'm willing to order from overseas...Dr.Bob - 4-4-2013 at 10:05
Advanced Chemtech is one of the oldest peptide companies around. They are certainly legitimate and well established. You might also want to check
with Chem-Impex, Oakwood, Carbosynth, or maybe even Matrix Scientific. Partly depends on where you are located, the last two are in SC. But some or
all might not sell to individuals. If you have a university email, that is best.
If you are looking for a simple peptide coupling agent, EDC and HBTU are the most commonly used for simple work. HATU is much more expensive and
normally only used for problematic couplings, as well as PyBOP. EDC is the least hazardous of them, generally, and easiest to use, as you just mix
amine, acid, and EDC in DCM, THF, or similar solvent, stir a while and then wash the reaction with water, dil acid, dil. base, and the amide is left
in the organics to dry and concentrate. If you have chiral acid, then HBTU might work better, but produces more by-products which are harder to
remove, so chromatography is often needed.
Just make sure NOT to let the coupling agent sit with the amine without the acid present, as that often leads to side products. Best to add acid,
then coupling agent, mix and stir, then add the amine. If not chiral, then mix the acid and amine then add the coupling agent - that works in most
cases.

It seems that advancedchemtech will not sell to individuals...
But I also did not make attempt with my university email. I will try through a bunch of companies with it... I am egit a student of chemistry at a
university. This particular experiment does directly relate to classwork, it is however not 'affiliated'. Dr.Bob - 5-4-2013 at 05:14
If you know anyone at a university, then I would try just trying to get in good with a professor or grad student there. I did undergrad research and
that got me access to people with nearly anything I needed to do research, both directly and indirectly. My professor only did certain work, so he
only had certain chemicals, but others in the Dept. had a variety of chemicals and equipment. So I was able to make chemiluminecent chemicals for
example, as well as interesting stable radicals and some pyrotechnic mixtures. Fortunately, I was careful in most cases and did not succeed in
blowing myself up, despite a lack of proper knowledge at the time. :-)lastlokean - 5-4-2013 at 05:23
That was assuredly my first approach... I have assuredly gotten a good number of things from grad students and professors... Unfortunately my
university is on the smaller side and they don't do anything involving peptides, at least according to the few people I have attempted to acquire a
peptide coupler through...k2976 - 5-4-2013 at 06:28
If you're worried about DEA restrictions there aren't any on PyBOP....yet. You can ovoid all the stress and just buy internationally. It will be a lot
cheaper this way as well.k2976 - 5-4-2013 at 06:36
These are very easy to obtain internationally. There are lists all over the web of people offering them. You can find them on ebay sometimes as well. dean - 6-4-2013 at 11:07
I checked the website you mentioned. gls is nearby me. frenchemist - 12-5-2013 at 10:42
You still looking for PYBOP? Where do you live?TrivialChem - 20-6-2013 at 07:09
I am currently looking for this for peptide synthesis research. Live in southern USA. If need more specific address PM me please.karlos³ - 5-7-2018 at 07:58
I hope nobody does mind that I do such a blatant necropost here, but I am really lost finding a certain peptide coupling reagent for a reasonable
price.
Or for that matter, any peptide coupling reagent locally, for individuals, and with a normal price.
It is EDC I am looking for, and I would really like to acquire it from continental europe, not the UK(which is the only place I could find it for sale
to individuals locally), but for the UK the shipping costs are outrageous.
And for mainland europe, especially my own country, the prices are insane, some times I see prices that are ten times or even more as much as some of
the cheaper suppliers(not to mention they do not sell to individuals).
Cheaper are only the US-based suppliers, but for there, the shipping costs would be unreasonably.
This is all especially worse, since I only need a very small quantitiy, depending on the price only 25-100g of this damned EDC-HCl.
My usual supplier for chemicals do not carry such things, these are probably too specialised for them, and for me they were too until shortly ago when
I finally grasped how useful these expensives substances can be sometimes.
I have no connection to an university for a long time, and again only nearly the end of the year, and then it is probably not directly possible to
just blatantly ask, being completely new, if they would order this for me, of course not.
Again, I apologise for burying this old thread out, but it was the only thing I could find when I used the search engine regarding these substance
class.
I just hope that someone can either point me in the right direction, or would simply tell me instead that my search for a little bit of EDC for a
reasonable price, shipping cost and not from the other hemisphere on the world, is a hopeless and futile endeavour.medchemist - 5-7-2018 at 11:37
I have a bottle HATU in the fridge at work, I'm sure a gram would go unnoticed given our scaleup work JJay - 5-7-2018 at 14:06
PyBOP isn't that hard to find... someone was selling some on here a while back and might still have some (don't remember who offhand)... I'd think
most any chem supplier could get a hold of it.... Loptr - 5-7-2018 at 14:11
DCC, CDI, etc., are available from Chemsavers.karlos³ - 6-7-2018 at 01:03

Yes, and I could simply purchase it this way, however, the one I want to use is really expensive coming from the suppliers that are available to me,
e.g. TCI, ABCR and sigma mostly.
But I see on other pages specialised on peptide chemistry some very cheap prices compared, sometimes they offer 50-100g for around 50€, but always
under 100€.
And for that price, I would rarely get 10-25g from the suppliers that are available to me.
It isn't the problem that I can not get it, but I would really like to get them on an affordable basis then, not getting some sort of legally robbed.
By the way, the coupling agent I want to have, is the HCl salt of EDC (1-Ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide).
This has some advantages for my intended use, is not that expensive, easy to use and very soluble in a lot of things.
Also, what I personally find advantageous, it has a rather low molar weight compared to many other peptide coupling agents.
In my despair on the hunt of this reagent, I've started to contact some chinese suppliers, to hopefully get at least a bit of that stuff to an
affordable price...Loptr - 7-7-2018 at 20:23
I found it on eBay right now. Sort of expensive for 50g.
so its no problem to get PyBOP in the US? think i found a resource for it.. would prefer more school house science shop / smaller hobby science house
shop source. anyone? quadrupole - 25-9-2018 at 04:04
