Lawless countries such as England? ROFL- you can't get a third of the things on ebay that you can get in the US! Now why oh why would they sell pentaerythritol on the US ebay, but is nowhere to be seen in the UK ebay? Sure, technically it's a harmless chemical... but with a single, very distinct, and much more potentially harmful application..

Ebay is god. At least 80% of my lab is stocked from sellers on ebay. (6lbs of Mg for $30? Sweet :D)

You can usually get way better prices by contacting the sellers and buying from them directly

Hmm, if that makes you happy...
I can get Mg- purity unknown - from the metal recyclers for twenty-five cents a pound. I have 7 pounds of Mg, which cost me a grand total of $1.75;)

You lucky bastard;) Compared to paying $7 for a 25g roll of ribbon it's still a good deal. And mine was 99.99% pure

Have you found a good way of turning big blocks of Mg into powder? It's so soft the ball mill just pounds it into flakes. :(

I have not made any powdered Mg yet, but Mg turnings are easy- use a drill, and Mg is reactive enough for turnings to work in most situations.

My plan for Mg powder is too make a sanding machine, basically a rotating drum covered with carborundum powder/epoxy or sandpaper, rotated by a large motor. The Mg, which comes in a hollow square rod form, could be gravity fed into the machine. There is another thread on this topic though, in the beginnings section.
