Plating silver over copper

anoopai - 6-6-2012 at 20:16

which is the best method for plating silver over copper ?

the safest way is to make solution of silver chloride, potassiumferrocyanide and boil together with sodium carbonate using a silver anode.i got this formula from a fellow named Goran Budija at finishing.com

Is this a electroless plating ?, silver anode means just a piece of silver into the solution ?

negative this is not electroless plating and yes silver anode means a piece of pure silver as anode(pos).but goran says stainless steel can also be used for anode. this solution can be used with almost any low voltage and works pretty good.

I have been looking all over the internet on electroplating silver without the use of AgCN and finally found a recipe. I will be sure to give this a shot and report my findings. But one quick question what solvent would be used to dissolve silver chloride.

i think ammonium hydroxide dissolves silver chloride.
