Hi. In need of an SO3 gnerator to calibrate a SO3 gas analyzer. Anybody know who makes one?simba - 18-5-2012 at 16:34
You can distill it from oleum or make it by heating sodium bisulfate at 460 ÂșC. These are probably the easiest routes if you don't need much SO3.

Thanks. I'm looking for a commercial product that is off the shelf that I can buy.hissingnoise - 19-5-2012 at 06:50
Didn't you bother to do any searching?
A few-second google came up with this.

Cemtek, I think that I may understand what you are looking for although most members here would not. We use phosgene monitors at work and those
monitors are periodically 'bump checked' using a phosgene generator. This is a little hand-held unit that generates a miniscule amount of phosgene to
test the calibration of the monitor. I have seen these for other compounds but I cannot find one online for SO3. You might be better off going with
a reference solution but I wasn't able to find one online though cursory looking.chemrox - 19-5-2012 at 14:35
The company at the link used to product glass tubes sealed at both ends with some SO3 absorbed onto some inert material in the tube.
These tubes were used for observing airflows in clean rooms and clean cabinets etc. You broke the tube at both ends and put a rubber 'puffer' ball on
one end. Small puffs of air through the tube would release puffs of 'smoke'.
I cannot find these tubes on their web site. Perhaps an email may to the company may help.
They may be suitable for your job.
