I would consider myself both libertarian and communist leaning, which some may find somewhat condradictory.
I have also been told that my views are "third positionist", since I advocate higher wages, an end to poverty, and racial separatism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Position

I also strongly believe in a land value and natural resource tax, so I also consider myself a "geolibertarian".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geolibertarianism

I am very much against free trade and immigration. And I strongly support the right of citizens to own certain types of weapons (rifles should not require a licence, but handguns could be more regulated. anti-armor rocket launchers should also be legal with training and a license to those without a criminal background)

Also the fact that the phenomena of homelessness exists in the USA should be absolutely shameful ! I am surprised they have not revolted.

I support environmental conservation, but am outraged by the "low energy", but very unpleasant, compact fluorescent lights that many governments are forcefully pushing on their citizens.

Suffice to say that my political beliefs do not easily fit within any of those categories in the poll.

I see, but it does not appear to be possible to change the poll..maybe I should have added other and no opinion options too...

AirCowPeaCock - 20-1-2012 at 11:02

Woohoo, Communists rock!

neptunium - 20-1-2012 at 11:22

hmm ok.. yeah i had the same problem i dont consider myself right wing or left wing...certainly not a coco !!lol

AndersHoveland - 20-1-2012 at 15:55

I suspect that 9 out of 10 of the organic chemists on this forum who actually have a university degree are left-wing. It would be interesting to know the typical political affiliations of our "meth lab"-operating members...

And I have a suspicion that the political affiliations of members who frequent the "energetics" section leans more right wing.
(I believe you refer to those types of people as "rednecks" :D )

From my personal perspective, you could not be more of base. My dabbling in energetics is not at all politically motivated, but purely educational. Try and avoid stereotypical generalizations if you don't mind.

Sorry, it is just that I have actually been to the American South, and these people do indeed have an obsession with guns and explosives.

There were plenty of Africans, and surprisingly a large number of Indians (I suppose the subtropical climate is similar to that in India), but I did not see even a single interracial couple outside during the whole time of my trip. Some of the churches had signs not unlike this outside:

I suppose the concept of multiculturalism has not reached this area yet.

(Apparently even the black churches have turned on Obama!

that is racist

Being that Chemist should supersede or at a minimum guide any members political view I am surprised that it was not listed among the political ideologies. It left me with the only available option of "Downright Crazy..." which I picked with glee.

AndersHoveland - 20-1-2012 at 20:18

Chemistry is a political ideology? Please explain...

If we are talking about energetics, I choose "pro-choice" over "pro-life"! :P

AirCowPeaCock - 20-1-2012 at 20:52

That's not o! It's more culturist, or rather lacoeducationist infused with ignoranalselfishist.

neptunium - 21-1-2012 at 08:10

my mama told me to avoid talking about religion and politics ... and i am not a sports person at all .
so the conversation can go 2 ways only.

AndersHoveland - 21-1-2012 at 12:13

revolutionary communism, religion, and political attacks on a president with racial undertones ...
What could possibly go wrong with this discussion? :D

neptunium - 21-1-2012 at 12:44

well i like to beleive that by its curious nature, the scientific community and hence a science orriented web site such as this one would be tolerant accepting patient and open minded .... but again i`ve been wrong many times before

You would think. But often otherwise rational people are intolerant of other peoples intolerance for their ideologies, which are themselves inconsiderate of the concerns of the second group of people. :P

neptunium - 21-1-2012 at 12:58

thats especially true when it comes to religion and atheism..(spelling?)

Which is rather ironic because many of the members are religiously atheistic!

It is one thing to simply not believe that god exists. It is another thing to believe that god does not exist, then spread your belief with religious zeal.
