using 3-amino-1-phenylpropan-1-ol to make an n,n,n triakyltriazine

i have a simple question about the reaction of 3-amino-1-phenylpropan-1-ol with formalin to make 1,3,5 (R,R,R,) trialkyltriazine.
basically a trimer of the formaldimine of said amine.
the synthetic problem that rears it's ugly head here is the possibility well the likelyhood of the condensation of formalin with the benzylic alcohol to form a hemi-acetal.
so i was thinking since the amine is a stronger nucleophile than the alcohol it would likely also react faster with formalin than the alcohol.
so can this reaction can be kinetically controlled by adding a stochiometric amount of formalin in portions, to suppress this side reaction?
