Sodium metatungstate

Hello everyone!

Not very long ago I saw a fairly interesting ion: [H2W12O40]6-. I tried searching all over the internet, but couldn't find any relatable method of preparing this compound. Has anyone here tried synthesising it? Is it possible to use [WO4]2- as a reagent?

Hi!

This paper, and its references, is perhaps a good starting point:

Solid state chemistry of polytungstic acids and their salts.

In summary, and probably massively over-simplifying:

Electrolyse a sodium tungstate solution, and then add a chloride salt to get the metatungstate you desire.

Here ammonium paratungstate on the page 1713
