Out of the Blue, But I've Been Thinking of You!

Axt - 29-9-2024 at 11:12

I just took an old hard drive that was found covered in dust in the shed in to have the files transferred onto a USB drive (who uses a tower PC these days?) and it was about 300gigs of explosive info, god knows what they were thinking. I'll attach the abstracts I'd saved from the short time I had access to Chem Abstracts, interesting for me to see what was going through my mind at the time. It's far easier to get journal articles now than what it was 20 years ago, where you had to woo a librarian for the old stuff. Now you can just use google translate instead of pestering Chemoleo for a German -> English translation, he must have been so sick of me.

I few combined reasons were why I disappeared, they changed the laws on me thus I let my commercial explosives licence expired (their valid reasons were not the same as my valid reasons haha), but also a girl drew my attention and that lead to more dependants and having to have a more responsible outlook. I'd already lost fingers as a kid to playing with commercial explosives so It'd be unforgivable to do it again.

Anyways congrats on 20+ years Polverone. It's good that I still recognise a few of the names down there. Looks like the nitrous fumes got to Rosco though haha bloody Rosco.

Hey, welcome back. Great to see you.

I avoided this topic because I was usually avoiding Energetic how we could call them Materials.

And then I see news full of people bombing each other and ...

Yeah.

Wow, a real "blast from the past"!

This also reminded me of a huge amount of Chemistry Journals I obtained according to my personal memory from Russia.

I am not sure if I still have them.

Hi Axt, very good to see you here again! Those were the good old days ;)

Hello Axt, the 300 gigs of info contains synthesis methods as well or not?

To all - > I think 20 years ago there was a website called "megalomania" ( something ) in there there was a lot of info about explosive materials including the synthesis method (I am not sure if the synthesis methods could be trusted!) but I remember I had copied the website (currently I lost the copies but I hope someday I can find them!) does any of u remember that website?

Thanks guys.

Sarinox, you are looking for the attachment. It's very dated by todays standards but I do remember when that was started, it was back in the day when there were only fringe text files distributed by usenet readily available online. I knew Megalomania back then, I owned the explosives forum where we met up which I gave to him, whereby he moved everyone over to what became Roguesci, which I managed to get banned from just as Polverone started Sciencemadness and the rest is history.

Welcome back :)

Glad to see you back, it's been a spell. I've managed 17 years of seniority at my chemical plant in the meantime.
