I found this extremely interesting video yesterday, but it is in Russian, I used an automatic translation. The video shows laboratory preparation of
beryllium metal and very dangerous experiments with it and its compounds and HF. I have never seen any similar video. I like the whole channel of this
person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSo_E39JYAw

Too bad one cant understand what is said as i cant understand Russian language.
I have a piece of beryllium in my element collection, something like 8 grams or so.
I wonder if one can convert old microwave magnetron end pieces to metallic beryllium.
I think its beryllium oxide in the magnetron endpiece parts.
The dust or vapour of beryllium and beryllium compounds is VERY toxic so it might be a too dangerous project.
The danger is inhaling any such beryllium dust or vapour, something that cant be fixed by any doctor.
Its probably esier and much safer to just buy a piece of beryllium if someone want some for element collection.
But they want quite much for a piece if you can find it.Sulaiman - 17-4-2024 at 10:21
The YouTube captions translator seems to give a sensible interpretation
