I read that uracil and other DNA bases can be obtained by hydrolysis of DNA. Now I was thinking about growing some yeast in sugar and then killing
them to extract the DNA and after that try to hydrolyse the nucleic acids to get bases.
Now, is there some written procedure for that and how to extract them from the resulting mess?

Were you planning on using the nucleobases for PCR? Maybe it would be cheaper and easier to look into buying them first.
EDIT: I just had a *quick* look into it, and I found these. I'm not certain if they sell to the public, though; and the price does look a little steep.
