has any one ever tried the magnesium sulfate and aluminum thermite reaction have not found anything for it

or aluminum and boron trioxide to yield boron metal
not sure what is required to sustain the reaction

Aluminum and Boron trioxide would form Aluminum Boride.

This can be hydralised to yield Borane

Magnesium is higher up than aluminium, so MgSO4 wouldn't work.

I've made elemental boron through thermite before, but I used magnesium instead of aluminum. I go into a lot of detail about it in my video, take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QBCyOrjR2o
