I found on this Youtube channel that Starlite is invented as a very high temperature resistant material invented by a British chemist, but it is never
published or patented and the inventor has deceased without revealing any details.

But a compatible stuff can be made with starch, baking soda and glue.

This would be an excellent furnace insulator. Did anyone experiment with it ?

good insulator, but not good for a furnace lining. the carhon foam it creates will eventually be burned buy the prolonged fire in a furnace, we are
not talking of minutes, but probably days of firing. carbonized bread is also a good insulator, there's a post here somewhere, still carbon foam
though
