Wasp venom contains a chemical "alarm pheromone," released into the air, signaling guard wasps to come and sting whoever or whatever gets in their
way, literally "scrambling" like the Air Force. If one kills a wasp just outside a nest by hitting it, that wasp will give off a pheromone which will
penetrate the nest.
