After I logged into one of my geocities websites, I found this information. Does anyone here have any suggestions for other free hosting services?
With geocities, you didn't have to log in every so often to keep them from deleting your website. Is there any place else like this?

Important Announcement
After careful consideration, Yahoo! has decided to close GeoCities later this year.
You can continue enjoying your GeoCities service until then — we just wanted you to let you know about the closure as soon as possible. We'll share
more details this summer. For now, please visit the help center for more information.
--------------------------------
GeoCities will close later this year.
Why is GeoCities not accepting new customers?
We have decided to discontinue the process of allowing new customers to sign up for GeoCities accounts as we focus on helping our customers explore
and build new relationships online in other ways. We will be closing GeoCities later this year.
I'm a GeoCities customer. What's happening to my site?
Existing GeoCities accounts have not changed. You can continue to enjoy your web site and GeoCities services until later this year. You don't need to
change a thing right now — we just wanted you to let you know about the closure as soon as possible. We'll provide more details about closing
GeoCities and how to save your site data this summer, and we will update the help center with more details at that time.
Will something happen to my GeoCities Free or Plus account?
Later this year we will be closing all GeoCities accounts and web sites. We'll send you more details this summer.
Can I prepare for GeoCities closing now?
All of our GeoCities customers can continue to enjoy their sites and GeoCities services until later this year. You don't need to change your service
today, but we encourage anyone interested in a full-featured web hosting plan to consider upgrading to our award-winning Yahoo! Web Hosting service.
Yahoo! Web Hosting includes a personalized domain name (such as widgetdesigns.com) and matching email, new site building tools, unlimited disk space
and bandwidth, premium customer support, and more. See details.
When will I get more information?
We'll provide more details about closing GeoCities and how to save your site data this summer, and we will update the help center with more details at
that time.
Does Yahoo! offer another free hosting service?
No, Yahoo! does not offer another free hosting service. Instead we recommend our award-winning Yahoo! Web Hosting service, which includes a
personalized domain name (such as widgetdesigns.com) and matching email, new site building tools, unlimited disk space and bandwidth, premium customer
support, and more. Learn more or sign up.
As a Yahoo! customer, you also can now use your free Yahoo! profile as a central point to manage your identity, activities, and interests across
Yahoo! and make it easy to connect and share with the people who matter to you most. Visit your profile now or learn more about Yahoo! profiles.
I have a GeoCities email address. Will I get to keep it when GeoCities closes?
Yes. Some of our earliest GeoCities customers took advantage of GeoCities email addresses, like you@geocities.com. Those email addresses will not
change with the closure later this year.

First thing to do would be to archive the site and find a new host, whilst placing a redirector on the current site to ensure any visitors know where
the site goes after it's shut down.
I'm in the process of building a new website at the moment to host piles of information on underground related topics. I can't afford hosting and even
if I could it'd be pointless since it'd only be a matter of time before I could say goodbye to my hard work when they shut it down because it breaches
their T&C.
I'd opt for First Free Hosting, which can be found at www.1stfreehosting.com/. They provide a fairly good service although I've had issues updating my pages. If you don't want to expand but want to
keep your site online I'd use them.
There's another alternative too. Piczo.Com provide a free website service complete with a built in designer, which means no paying for expensive web
design software like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. They also support the ability to put your own HTML in.
However Piczo is slightly unprofessional looking. Also tehy don't care about when you log in either.
I hope that helps. Eliteforum - 8-7-2009 at 01:24
If either of you need some free hosting let me know.Vogelzang - 11-7-2009 at 09:50

If those are your web pages regrading dispersive IR instruments, I hope they continue to be available. They're a great resource. Really unique and
well done.Eliteforum - 12-7-2009 at 10:08

If you have a Mac and don't expect to overload your IP bandwidth you can run a web page from your own computer. You don't even need to have a
monitor, and the computer can be an old used one. Obviously this can be done with any computer, but the software and the hard work is already done
for you on a Mac with OS 10. Maybe somebody with a Windows OS can offer a link to how it can be done.
This is probably suitable for sites that don't expect a lot of traffic. I use a Static IP with mine, but a Dynamic IP, which is cheaper and more
common can be used by getting a free name from a site such as DynDNS.com
It's amazingly easy to update pages or files on your own computer.Vogelzang - 6-11-2009 at 18:07
