An alternative source of Li, much greater in extent, and involving much simpler extractive processes, would be the sea, in which Li occurs to the
extent of about 1 ppm. To extract it from sea-water, an ion-exchange resin would have to be developed that specifically binds Li, but not Na, K, Rb,
Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu, or other common metals in sea-water. |
