I have just synthesized iodophthalic anhydride (basically phthalic anhydride with an iodide on the aromatic ring) from dimethyl aniline, and have run
a crude NMR of the sample which has shown that the reaction has worked, however there are a large amount of impurities.
Washing the solid on a scinter funnel with THF did not work as it was readily soluble in cold THF. Hexane had similar results. Do any of you have any
ideas on purifying my solid? Sublimation would be a massive pain...

Try recrysatllizing the compound with pet ether and a few drops of THF (or similar) to dissolve impurities. Try out sevral solvent systems, and then
try out a column if the amount you need is reasonable. Depending on what you plan on doing with it, minor impurities might be tolerable, if you can
eliminate them afterwards.
