Suppliers List

Ubya - 31-10-2018 at 14:48

I Thought it would be a good idea to make a list of suppliers because everyone of us uses different websites to buy their chemicals and equipment, but it doesn’t exist a seller that is best for everything, maybe a supplier is good for US citizens but not for EU or Australia, same the other way around. By making a list of all the good suppliers we know of and putting a brief description of their service and products with pros and cons and other general informations, i hope everybody will benefit by making their search for materials easier or better, by spending less, or by finding someone that could sell them something that nobody else would etc.

Deschem
A Chinese seller that offers a wide range of of common glassware equipment for a low price. Mostly 24/40 and 24/29 glassware, plus many other lab essentials. Ships worldwide for free

Nanshinglass
A Chinese seller specialized in large volume glassware, but also sells common glassware. Cheap prices and free shipping worldwide

Onyxmet
A Polish seller with a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds plus pure elements in different forms. Purity of compounds is not always mentioned, the range is 98-99,9%. Shipping costs depend on your location and the minimum order (without shipping) is 15 USD.

Rathburn
Scottish company, sells quite a long list of HPLC and glass-distilled grade solvents. Not an online shop, a phone call or an email is necessary to place an order

LiMac science
Company based in Latvia, has a really big catalog of organic and inorganic compounds, can even buy in bulk. Ships worldwide, shipping costs depend on location.

United Nuclear
US company, sells small amounts of common chemicals, a few pieces of glassware and many other different things (meteorites, xray tubes, magnets, lasers, etc), but famous for selling uranium metal and uranium ore samples. Prices are pretty high relative to other sources and many items are USA only shipping.

If you think something should be added/removed/corrected feel free to tell me, the list will expand with time, so if you want to recommend a store just write about it here.

There's already a page for this on the SM wiki: http://www.sciencemadness.org/smwiki/index.php/Lab_suppliers

I think it'd be better to update that

you are right.
i'm sorry i checked the forum but not the wiki.
i'll delete this thread after the wiki is updated with the new info we can write here

DavidJR - 31-10-2018 at 16:42

I have made some extensive changes to this page over the past couple of hours. I've: reorganised by geography, fixed formatting, removed obsolete entry (oxford chemserve anyone?), and added all of the suppliers I use frequently.

j_sum1 - 31-10-2018 at 21:27

Nothing from Oz here. It might be a project (as if I needed another one just at the moment.)

Great Job DavidJR, it's much better now

In Europe there is restauro online ( from Italy) , they sell chemicals for the lab among other things.

I have ordered about 300 E of products from them. You will most likely find all that you need on their shop. Shipping is fast.

Can't seem to find a good Canadian supplier :(
Ammoniumnitrateforsale.com sells ammonium nitrate at bulk quantities.
(Keep in mind US only allow for 40lb of ammonium nitrate to be stored at one place with a PAL license)

Optimum - 4-8-2019 at 14:48

Hello,

to purchase edible compounds such as supplements and reagents should i use this list? or should i try to get them in other places?

from that list which ones have the best quality?

Are you sure about this? 40lbs?

Some oceania entries for wiki:
Auschems.com(not auschem. They don't sell to public) is good for inorganic reagents and some glassware.

Sciencesupply.com.au is great for glassware, tad expensive compared to overseas and even some other AU's suppliers but still IMO the best au supplier.

Thanks for this! I hadn't found Auschems.

can someone elaborate?

Thanks

Texium - 10-11-2019 at 09:57

Nobody can elaborate until YOU elaborate on what it is you're looking for. "Supplements and reagents" is so vague that the only reasonable answer to your question is a soft "Maybe?" Either explain specifically what you are looking for, or go search the websites of the suppliers and see if they sell what you want. I don't know what you want from us.

Pretty sure that by definition a reagent isnt an edible.

Mesa - 14-11-2019 at 04:46

Speaking of edibles... I found a hidden gem a few months ago www.melbournefooddepot.com.

Lots of "food grade" (still relatively pure) compounds including organic acids(propionic, pyruvic etc) inorganic reagents(NH4HCO3 etc) and even potential PTC catalyst precursors

www.chemsavers.com (not 100% sure if website ship to residential addresses, but they have amazon and ebay accounts that sell their benign chemicals to anyone)

www.dudadiesel.com (mostly common acids, bases, solvents, but also a couple common organic compounds, e.g. formic acid)

also start off by doing a search on ebay and amazon for what you are looking for.

any others to add?

Redoka Chemicals in the UK seem to be pretty good for basic solvents, DCM, Methanol, Toluene, Xylene etc. - the prices aren't bad, and the shipping is quick and reasonable. They have an eBay store as well.

I'd like to add myself as a supplier of platinum group metals
Gold, silver, platinum, palladium.prices are probably the best around
and I can do anything from 1gram to ounces. PM for details and pricing
As long as I'm not dead or in hospital too unwell to pick up a phone
this offer will still be valid so if you're reading this 5years from now
it's still going to be available.im in Australia but I suppose if an envelope
can get to you so can a small amount of precious metal so I'm willing to
ship worldwide if u pay postage as well.

aab18011 - 12-6-2020 at 21:43

Carolina Biological Supply has sold me two pretty awesome purity acids, Hydrochloric and Sulfuric. My HCl was 37.6% and my Sulfuric was 98.01%. Both came inside of a special canister with inert material loaded with base (it said that on their old website, cant find the paper now) and inside a special amber bottle with resistant cap. They sell most things to individuals, however, some of the bulk quantities are locked and can only be shipped to schools or professional labs. They sold me a max of 1L, but some acids are limited to 500mL only. As far as dry reagents, they have a decent supply, but you pay a decent amount. You can use a coupon code, but they are hard to find (I was lucky enough to find a 10% off).

TriiodideFrog - 11-11-2020 at 01:18

Chembid and Sigma-Aldrich supply a large range of chemicals but most are pricey.

TriiodideFrog - 11-11-2020 at 01:22

Canfort Laboratory and Education Supplies Co., Ltd. ships from China
and the prices are quite cheap.

I thought it would be worth adding Chemsupplies to this list. I recently stumbled across their web site and thought I would give them a go. They don't have a huge range of chemicals, maybe they are just starting out. Of interest to me was their phosphorus pentoxide. It was well packed and arrived 3 business days after placing the order. I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on purity/quality of the reagent. I will report beck if I come across any issues.

B(a)P - 9-12-2022 at 14:44

A question for those in AUS.
Does anyone know if Science Essentials sells to the general public with online orders?
Thanks in advance.

j_sum1 - 9-12-2022 at 15:06

Leon850 deals with SE regularly. I have made a few purchases: all of them picked up on the premises. I know they ship but I don't know if they do online orders.

I will dig up Peter's phone number for you and you can make enquiries that way.

So, it's been a while since I have posted here, but since I noticed that no one posted the Aussie chem suppliers to the wiki until now, I decided to add them myself, as well as 3 more I found in other threads.

Now all the page needs are suppliers from Africa and South/Latin America, since there don't appear to be many members from those areas.
