Abstract: Tungsten-base composites coated with either nickel or copper were
heat treated at elevated temperatures to produce a diffusion bond between the
composite and the coat. At temperatures to 473 K, no diffusion bond was achieved
and there was no improvement in low-temperature ductility. At temperatures above
920 K, the coat and base bonded and the ductility was improved. Microprobe
analysis confirmed that a diffusion bond formed.
